1. What happens in case of power failure ?

Nothing ! The mould remains clamped on the magnetic platens. Indeed, the electropermanent technology of the Pressmag system needs power only to energise and de-energise the system. During the production cycles, there is no power consumption.

2. Is the clamping force big enough to hold big moulds ?

Yes ! the bigger the mould is, the greater is the surface area of the mould in contact with the magnetic platen. The clamping force on the mould therefore increase in proportion.

3. Is there any risk of disturbing the function of the machine or the mould by using a magnetic system ?

No ! The pressmag system is engineered and built to have a magnetic circuit in the platen and in the back plate of the mould. It has no influence on the functions of the machine or of the mould.

4. Magnetic clamping is invisible ; how can we know if the pressmag system is active or not ?

Control units have been designed in collaboration with IMM maufacturers and enable a visual indication of the platen state on the machine PLC or on a separate remote control. A dialog between the unit control and the machine is installed to ensure a completely safe solution.

5. What happens if the operator pushes the off button during a cycle ?

Nothing ! A dialog is established between the Pressmag and the machine in order to ensure all safety devices and forbids any incorrect operations. A totally secure system is achieved in order to avoid any accidental damage to the machine or to the mould.

6. Without any mould on the machine, is it possible to magnetise or demagnetise the magnetic platens ?

No ! Sensors are integrated in the Pressmag systems to avoid any magnetisation or demagnetisation cycle witout contact of the mould on them.

7. What kind of alteration has to be made on the mould to use a Pressmag system ?

None ! The Pressmag system is compatible with each kind of mould or machine. It is designed to suit customers requirements by including holes for ejector pins, holes for adaptation to other existing clamping systems, mould indexing systems, special centrin holes for multi-injection…
